 Obama attempted to dissuade Biden, his VP, from running for president twice with this election being the second time. Biden has aged significantly over the past few years. In the last presidential debate he started off fine, but had issues as it progressed.  He cannot handle this, period. Full stop.  It took him several days of rest just to do that. A meme briefly became popular lamenting the fact that the current US debates could not be like the Lincoln/Douglas debates.   There was not any group/commission overseeing debates then.  That began in 1987. Both Lincoln and Douglas disparaged each others character. Douglas, a Democrat, was defending enslaving blacks.  Lincoln, a Republican, was not. Both participants had supporters in the audience that laughed, clapped, or dissented during the debates. The debates were an agreement between Lincoln and Douglas. Today, we have an organization that is partisan, meaning for one side (Democrat), and they are trying to dictate the format, substance, and participant conduct.

When this nightmare is over, we need a Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
